In his vehement drawing Boy, Noel Counihan depicts Australian conscripts in the Vietnam war as indistinguishably oppressors and victims. The potent body and aggressively phallic head contrast with a boyish face encased in what the artist recognised as the "universal helmet" symptomatic of globalisation's repression of dissent. -- |
